Why doesn't my salon carry Kenra?
Not all salons or hairstylists know about Kenra, or they may use a supplier that doesn't distribute Kenra products. Sometimes asking a stylist to order Kenra or contacting us for more information is all it takes to have the product at your salon.

How is Kenra different from other hair care products?

Do your conditioners contain sunscreen?
All of our conditioners contain Benzophenone. This is a sunscreen for UV protection. It also helps prevent color fade and drying.

Why Sulfate-free Shampoo?
All Kenra Platinum Shampoos are sulfate-free to ensure maximum color retention. These gentle formulations cleanse with a luxurious lather to deliver the ultimate softness, body and shine to color-treated hair. Shampoos containing sulfates can strip hair color. While not in Kenra shampoos, Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a primary ingredient in most shampoos. This harsh cleanser aggressively scrubs your hair, causing damage and threatening color.

Why are your Platinum Shampoos and Conditioners in 3 systems?
Color care products do not always cater to all of your hair care needs. This forces you to choose between preserving your color and managing your hair type. Kenra Platinum lets you do both by offering three prescriptive systems developed for the specific challenges of your hair type:
- Shampoo & Detangler for fine / thin hair: Color protection with unprecedented volume and shine
- Shampoo and Moisturizer for normal / medium: Color protection with optimum manageability and shine
- Shampoo and Reconstructor for thick / coarse hair: Color protection with ultra deep moisture and shine

What do the numbers on the front of the packaging stand for?
The numbers stand for our Hold Index. We have a Hold Index that ranges from 0 to 25. 0 is no hold and 25 is the maximum hold. Even if you aren't sure what a product does, you are able to look at the number and be able to determine the hold it has by the Hold Index scale.

What can I use to get chlorine, mineral deposits and other build up out of my hair?
Kenra's Clarifying Shampoo—a chelating formula—works by eliminating dulling deposits, including chlorine, hard water deposits and hair styling product buildup.

What are the best products to combat frizz when the humidity is high?
For calming and preventing frizz, products such as Daily Provision, Straightening Serum, and Silkening Gloss condition and smooth the hair. For styles that need firm hold and frizz control, Kenra's mousses and gels are also formulated to be humidity resistant.

Does Kenra make a product to enhance curl for permed or naturally curly hair?
Kenra offers several products to enhance curly or wavy hair. Start with Moisturizing Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner to cleanse and condition the hair. Apply Straightening Serum to damp hair and allow to air dry to enhance curls and reduce frizz. Following with a medium to firm fixative (such as Styling Glaze, Volume Mousse Extra or Platinum Shaping Crème) will lock in and support the curls.

What products should I use for dry or damaged hair?
Shampoo with Color Maintenance Shampoo or any of the Platinum Color-Lock Shampoo formulas to gently cleanse the hair. For daily use, follow with Color Maintenance Conditioner or the Platinum Color-Lock Moisturizer or Reconstructor. For a deep conditioning treatment, apply Intensive Emollient Treatment to damp hair, cover with plastic cap and apply heat (warm towel or hair dryer) for 20 minutes. Rinse and style as usual. For additional protection, use Thermal Styling Spray with hot rollers, curling irons and flat irons.

What products will add volume and lift to my fine hair?
Start with Volumizing Shampoo and Volumizing Conditioner. To damp hair, apply Thickening Spray for body. To provide lift and fullness from the root area, apply Root Volumizing Serum to damp hair, massage product on scalp area, lift and blow dry. To lift, lock and hold your hairstyle, apply Volume Spray #25, a super hold finishing spray.

What are the best styling fixatives for short hair, or man's cut?
For short or masculine styles, we recommend Platinum Grooming Pomade, Platinum Texturizing Taffy, Platinum Freezing Gel and Styling Gel all provide control, shine and hold.
